Amazing how a reputable brand made a total POS mower n their engineers miss basic things for the orice point. Do these companies even test products anymore or do they just expect ppl to buy their crap for brand loyalty??? Thanks for review
I think they just buy random stuff from China and put their logo on it
How do you skip Dewalt??? For that fact alone, I completely dismissed this video...
Dewalt mowers aren’t very popular
Bare minimum... needs a battery charge indicator light.
Crazy
Sweet! 🎉
As far as don't buy until you watch, too late but we do love the Ego mower, so I got the snow blower too. And just got a blower and string trimer. So far Ego products have treated me well. I drive electric too and have no complaints. Good luck to all and to all a good night.
Ego products rock. Really can’t go wrong. Little bit higher price but worth it
have you tried the ego aluminum deck?
Yes! Check out my gas vs electric mower comparison I use that one there
Gas 3-5 hp and battery 1-2hp for double the price. I have electric, CORDED electric. $200, 21" deck, 13 amps at 120v = 2hp all the time and no $200-$500 battery to charge and replace.
My tip to avoid dry grass, cut tall like 3.75". It will help keep your lawn green and fight weeds.
None of these battery mowers show power output and advertising runtime is very deceptive cuz its always different based on conditions. How tall is the grass? What kind? Is it wet? Whats the deck height set to? All factors that affect runtime. I calculate power output from the battery. Ah*voltag=watts/hour and if you drain the battery faster it will multiply the wattage so an ego 7.5ah 56v run for 1 hour is 420 watts. If its a heavy load and the battery drains in a half our its 840 watts or 1.12hp. 1.12hp? Thats why they dont post hp or watts of these battery mowers. Fact is theyre not that powerful. Only one I could find was on a sunjoe and it was 800 watts max.
Power output in watts does not mean much.... you need a torque value combined with power in watts. The torque figure can also be deceptive as manufactures do not mention if the torque value is continuous torque or peak torque that may last a split second. Take the Makita 40v XGT mower rated at 1900 watts vs the Ego select cut xp rated at 1200 watts... which mower feels more powerful? You would think the Makita based on advertised watts. You basically have to watch you tube comparison videos between mowers and rely on the reviewer to demonstrate which mower cuts out or struggles in thick and tall grass. Ego offers a 30 day money back guarantee for their push mowers if your not satisfied with your purchase. Ego also shows advertised run times based on the battery that comes with the mower. There is so much incorrect advertising by manufacturers when in comes to battery mowers. Hopefully this can change in time when battery mowers can compete with petrol mowers.
@@juliacartman8819 torque doesnt matter if its applied slowly. That where watts matter more. Hp= 746 watts= (torquexrpm)/5252.
Yea this one was particularly rough
Makita 368 is the best 👍😀👍
I really need to Dethatch my lawn. I always use the bag on my lawn mower every time I cut. But I know a little bit does escape the bag.
Sucker! J/K 🤣🤣🤣
That is a rebranded Greenworks. Stihl has an ownership stake in Greenworks. The best battery lawnmower is the SR
I think that isn’t the case here. I’ve used the Greenworks dozens of times and it’s markedly different. Totally different battery. Doesn’t have a dashboard. Aluminum vs steel deck. They’re vastly different.
Stihl has their own batteries But that mower is a rebranded Greenworks.
@LL-mt2nz which model
The deck and deck height adjust lever is straight off my greenworks 21"13amp corded
@@TheLawnReview 2502402NV. It’s the same everything except the battery cells.
I have a greenworks 13 amp 21" corded electric. With a 150' 12 gage extension cord I can mow the whole property from 1 outdoor outlet. Im willing to bet it wil destroy any battery mower in a shootout. My neighbor has an ego 21 and needs 2 7.5ah batteries to cut the whole yard (same size as mine). So look at the cost. Two $400 batteries, a $200 mower, $50 charger for $1050 or $285 for a 13 amp mower and 150' extendion cord? The choice is easy
Gotta admit it sounds like a good deal! If you can bear the extension cord.
@@TheLawnReview thats the key is cord management. As long as you mow away from the outlet the cord will never be in your cutting path. When youre done wrapping the cord with the over-under method ensures it will never tangle and unravel tangle free as you cut. You also have to plan your route based on the cord. It took me 3 cuts to really nail it down. Only downside is if you want self propelled youre sol cuz theyre push only, but theyre ligher too. Mine is a steel deck and is only 53lbs. Power wise its 13 amps so at 120v thats 1.56kw or 2hp all the time, no spinning up and down based on load like the battery mowers. It feels about as powerful as my old 21" toro gas push mower.
I bought a 96V Yardworks mower From Canadian Tire that blew my mind. This thing mulches up and bags pretty much anything, from hedge trimmings to foot long grass, it just plows through. I have not seen any other 96V mowers available in Canada which is why I bought this one but I'm not sure what's available in the states. If anyone from Canada is reading this comment, you really need to check this thing out.
Seems to work like the Ego Peak power system, two 48V batteries. The Yardworks 96V snowblower sure seems nice, too! And it works with all the 48V tools like string trimmer etc.
@@lopincol I bought the snow blower as well! So I have four batteries now. The snow blower is great but if the snow is heavy I need to clear it a few times as it's coming down or else it gets bogged down.
do the battery powered ones actually cut through a decent size weed or brush? or are these for the pristine manicured yard?
Probably better for pristine manicured yard. I’d stick with gas for thick brush
I bought an Ego self-propelled 21-inch mower last year after the self-propel function quit on my 20 yr old Honda. The mower worked well in late summer grass and mulching leaves in the fall. In the spring, I noticed the motor laboring in the heavy spring grass. The motor would frequently increase in speed when encountering heavy grass and occasionally stall in very heavy grass. During a mowing session, I stopped the mower to do something else and when I returned to the mower, it wouldn't start. I tried several suggestions from UA-cam to no avail, so I contacted Ego and was told to take it to Lowes for warranty repair. Now, about 6 weeks later, Lowes contacted me that the mower has been evaluated by their tech and it is not covered under warranty due to damage. I have to pay $275 for the repair. The mower was not damaged! I'm very upset by Ego and Lowes and feel I have been scammed. If you buy any electric mower, I suggest you purchase the seller's protection plan as manufacturer's warranty isn't worth squat.
Wow that is awful I’m sorry to hear that
Is the Ego the 15" or 16"? Below in comments looks like you said 16". Links still shows the 15". Awesome review, sooo helpful. Will buy the Ego, please advise on model and size. Thanks very much!!
Either one is good. Line IQ is good but can also be annoying. The 15 inch base model without line IQ is probably best value
Looks like the gear driven sprinkler leaked quite a bit. Would you say the quality was good enough to have more lasting power than the impact sprinkler?
I think so
i have done research recently, greenworks will break extremely fast and battery loses its charge within 6 months, i went with ego. i regret nothing.
Ego is also great. You won’t regret it!
We purchase a hose or sprinkler every two years because finding one to water narrow areas next to the neighbor's yard is hard. We recently purchased two Eden 95124 Adjustable 4-Way Mini Turbo Oscillating Sprinklers to water our house's narrow sides. To work smarter, not harder, we also bought two hose timers, crossing my fingers that the timers will make it easier to water in the summer months. 🐞
Love to hear that!!!
so glad I found your channel looking to buy some of the new line in your store soon
Email me and I’ll send you some for free Tyler @ thelawnreview dot com
Shape blades?
Do you mean sharp?
What about warranty
That would have been a great comparison for this
Can you tell us what psi or gpm you’re getting to your sprinklers? I have 60psi to my house and I’m having a really hard time finding a sprinkler that actually sprays as far as advertised.
I would love to see someone test mowers for how well they mulched the grass into tiny pieces.
Not a bad idea!!
Yeah that great and all besides the fact it doesn’t fucking work
Hahahaha. How so?
I have mild reactive airway & the spray bottle one makes my throat burn & bothers my lungs too. I’ll be wearing a mask moving fwd!
Wow I’m sorry to hear that. Not a good thing!
Can stop buying crappy stuff… say… apply to maybe a $1,500 reel mower? If so can you give me a note to pass along to my wife? I’ve explained away the good fertilizer and good pre-emergent. She sees the fruits of those expenses. It’s the golf green or irrigation system she doesn’t seem to see the ROI on.
Hahaha yes please use me as evidence in court
@@TheLawnReview ua-cam.com/video/Ha7HAG6jVqc/v-deo.htmlsi=7tpyr_mF_D-X8MYg
Good testing methodology Thanks for the video. Just ordered a Ruyobi today and now I'm kind of sad...
It’s not a BAD mower. There are better ones though. Thanks for watching!
Myman, that tree will dry out up the eaten bark,i bet no new bark will grow there, please do another video with update.
Do these always just cut until the battery is empty and then return to dock? I mean that is ok to buy i.e. 1500m2 robot for 2000m2 area or should i just forget gardena overall?
Honestly Gardena was pretty bad. I can’t in good conscience tell you to buy that
This is the best review video I've ever seen!!
Thank you so much!!!
Bruh why didnt you just leave them on and put a timer to see which turns off 😂
I had to test out self propelled!
For the money it is really ok. Starting in March in Louisiana I put this down twice at max rate in three months on a neglected bermuda lawn (4 years with nothing done) and was pleasantly surprised in how it greened it up and put a dent in the weeds. The worst weeds are spurge and creeping charlie which are hard to kill so I did spot spray those with a liquid weed killer and pump sprayer but I expected that. I believe for a lawn this bad, it is a 2 year project, not 1 year, but I'm certainly willing to continue it another year. TBH for lawns this bad I expect to need a separate maximum hit of pre-emergent annually and I will do that next spring, thanks.
“Ok” Is a great way to describe it
Hi, great review! Do you think the power washer has enough pressure to remove weeds? I'm on the edge of buying it, as I already have a few other devices from the company.
Hmm. Never used a pressure washer to relieve weeds but I don’t think this one could do it
@@TheLawnReviewThank you!
Now that Ego has came out with their pressure washer you need to rest it. They also came out with a wet dry vac., a mini bike and more.
I have reviewed it! Check out my recent pressure washer video
Love the mower. On sale for $499. Mowed 2000 sq feet, tall head 6-12 inch. Then went over again to level 2. 4000sq feet. When 1 battery drained, stick it in the charger while I was using the large battery. Small recharged in 30 min. Most of it I pushed. The 2nd cut I self propelled. Took out 12 inch high no problem.
Wow that’s awesome. Thanks for watching!!
I have a Greenworks and I'm the neighborhood weirdo that mows at night. I'm really just ahead of the curve on this one. Night mowing is so great! I don't like that electric mowers aren't really repairable, but I won't go back to gas.
😂 do you miss any spots?
@@TheLawnReview The headlights do a good job. One time I missed a thin strip of grass somehow and couldn't see it until the next morning.
Just the other night at around 10:30pm my back neighbor turned on a super bright flood light in his back yard. I thought it was odd but didn’t think anything of it until 15 minutes later when I hear a gas powered lawnmower going. I couldn’t believe he was mowing so late.
The technology for these battery-operated tools it's just not quite there yet so there's going to be a fight and a push back and it won't happen for a very long time
I agree
how much are you applying per 1000 sf
What does Obama have to do with the hotness? Seriously
It’s a joke people say like you blame everything bad on Obama. Obviously no truth to it. Just a joke.
Your gas calculation can’t be right… If I mow once a week with the same toro mower I go through maybe 5 gallons in three or four months but certainly not a gallon per week. But even 52 gallons at $4 is $208 and not $442. And I’d think in reality it’s half that much gas.
I could see that. I think you’re probably right
I wish I had before and after pictures of my lawn before and after Sunday. In two months, my lawn looks better than ever, and neighbors have noticed. I think dude likes to hear his own voice.
Just because it’s green doesn’t mean it is healthy.
What do you think about BE pressure washer?
Never heard of that!
Craftsman has the WORST customer service ever! They actually sent me an email when I needed service help telling me that there were NO service repair options they could offer, that they had NO parts or schematics to offer anyone tryin to repair one of these, that they had NO batteries to offer anyone needing one if they failed, and telling me to recycle my mower and buy something new!!! Luckily I was able to fix mine when it would not start after tearing it apart and trial and error efforts... I will NEVER buy another Craftsman product again. Like the mower and its accessory tools, but have ZERO ability to depend on them for any service or repair issue.... NOT the Craftsman of yesterday when Sears owned them.... Also, they got rid of entire V60 line if you bought one of those products!!!
Omg I’m sorry
Greenworks is soo underrated too bad Ego has a bunch of marketing behind it.
They’re both great!
Any benefits to this product over Hydretain, besides the minimal NPK?
There’s a decent amount of iron in the Hydracharge as well. But Hydretain is a little different. It’s not a surfactant like HC is. HT prevents moisture in the soil from evaporating. HC helps the moisture get further down in the root done faster. Both have similar results but they just get there differently.
@@TheLawnReview good info. Thanks. Side note...HT also draws moisture from the humid air into the soil, along with preventing/slowing down evaporation from the soil.
Skewed test. All lines should ve been soaked over night in water
But they were not all soaked so don’t that make it even?
I have a lot of bushes and use a Honda self propelled gas. I can mow under the bushes, release the self-propelled lever and free-wheel back. This is not possible with the Egos and people are complaining like crazy that the drive wheels lock up if you try that. Killer for me.
Yeah that does drive me crazy TBH but Honda has stopped making mowers
@@TheLawnReview Yes, but you can buy a used one a few years old and have a reliable mower for 20 more still!
@bobl997 then what??
@@TheLawnReview Im currently 67, so after 20 years I wont care too much! Tough poopies on you younger guys!
